IMG 4671Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem

Especially when you are going to be there!

Psalm 122 (ESV)
A Song of Ascents. Of David. 1 I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord!" 2 Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! 3 Jerusalem-built as a city that is bound firmly together, 4 to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. 5 There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! "May they be secure who love you! 7 Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!" 8 For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, "Peace be within you!" 9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.

Summary of Advent Activity and Preaching

by Pastor Robert Dekker

During the Christmas season of 2015, we pray that crowds from around Coastal Sussex will come and be fascinated by the Unexpected Journeys linked to Christ’s first advent, “From There to Here!”.  By God’s grace, we will enter into the Biblical accounts, many of which where penned just less than 2000 years ago.

RDekker Blog ThumbA Dose of Mortality

A Surprising Blessing from Above

By Pastor Robert Dekker

During the Summer of 2015, sadly, we have had to face mortality, even to see two young journalists murdered on live TV, to be made aware of the slaying of those church attenders in Charleston or the military recruiters in Chattanooga.  We have been informed of the brutal killings of Christians at the hands of ISIS.  Within our own church family, we have lost loved ones due to personal tragedy and recently one of our church members due to disease (Sara White).  Mortality is not something we enjoy facing.

TDekker web thumbSome say that the icing is the best part of the cake.  It is certainly the most attractive part, but not necessarily the substance of the cake.  A cake without icing is still cake, but icing on its own is not cake…it’s just icing!

The same can be said about Operation Christmas Child: on the outside, the shoebox of gifts is the best part!  It’s the most visual and attractive part of the ministry, but it isn’t necessarily substance of the process.

I sat down with Tracy Dekker to get a better picture of what the ministry of Operation Christmas Child does.
