Christmas Tea 2006

The WIC annual Christmas Tea was held Tuesday December 5, 2006. The theme this year was a "Victorian Christmas" and special guest speaker Bonnie Bachman led our woman in a performance that walked us through the ages with information, stories, characters and song. It was a fine night of celebration. As you can see from the photos, the tables were splendidly decorated with care and creativity.

Church Wide Banquet November 19, 2006

The Church Wide Banquet was held on November 19, 2006 in support of the "For His Glory Campaign". It was a time to celebrate our expectation of building the new church. The committee members sang an original song titled, "Bye, Bye, Basement" to generous cheers and howls of laughter. And Pastor Larry... and Pastor Larry did a few impersonations. Wow! That was funny. No, I mean that was really funny! Thank you Ann and Ken Simpler and all the committee members. Thank yoy Kate, Brian, Brandon, and Chris for the music. It was a memorable night.

Advanced Commitment Dinner November 9, 2006

November 9, 2006 New Covenant held an Advanced Commitments dinner in support of the For His Glory Campaign. The dinner was held at La Rosa Negra and it was fabulous. The chocolate cake was... was... beyond description. These photos document a few of the characters in attendance. WIC Atlanta Trip

Ten women of New Covenant traveled to Atlanta to attend the International WIC Fall Conference. This experience was filled with laughter and tears as we took in the messages provided by each speaker. Guest speakers shared lectures that varied from uplifting and inspirational, Paige Benson Brown, to calls to action from Dr Diane Langberg and Joni Ereckson Tada.

Washington DC - International Students - September 2006

This photo series documents the International Students trek to Washington DC on the second trip sponsored by New Covenant. It was late in the season and participation was originally expected to be light. However, that did not prove to be true and we filled the bus to capacity wondering if a second bus might have been a reasonable investment. It was a great trip filled with enthusiasm and joy. Upon the students return a meal was served and we became the recipients of many grateful smiles from the wearied and hungry bodies. We will miss these students and we wish them good will in God's presence.

Vacation Bible School - August 2006

Vacation Bible School at New Covenant. Under the Big Top! This summer was special, out under the Big Top, on the grounds of our future home. There is something exciting about standing in that field on Kings Highway, imagining the potential it holds for our ministries. There is something special about the gathering of our children and our families immersed in christian fellowship and teaching. There is something mysterious about the joy a child brings to a seasoned and weathered heart. There is something wonderful in a teachers touch. And there is always the sense of the magnificent when we are gathered together and mindful of His presence.

Another summer is coming to a close. Our students are returning to school. The hint of fall is in the air. Our new found friends from Europe are slowly finding their way home. It was time to celebrate the accomplishments of the past season and to also look forward with hope to the upcoming season. It was time to join together for the 2006 Annual Picnic. Browse the pictures and share a memory. The food was delicious, the water was warm, the sun played hide and seek, and the fellowship was.... tremendous.

Washington Trip August 2006

New Covenant went on an adventure to Washington D.C. with about 100 international students here for the summer. Two buses from Jor-Lin were used for transport and a full day was spent walking the mall and peeking into the art galleries and museums. It was a splendid day ending in a dinner here at the church. We are grateful for the generosity of Grotto's Pizza. From the smiles and the many expressions of thanks, it would appear the journey was very successful.

Under The BigTop

August 13th, 2006, New Covenant moved their services from under the sub shop to under the Big Top located on our property on Kings Highway. It was a tremendous weekend as we were given wonderful weather. The men of the church raised the tent with the precision of seasoned roadies. The worship team improvised with acoustic guitar and a battery powered PA system. And Pastor Larry presented the message the old fashioned way. He raised his voice and let the gentle westerly breeze carry the Word to the far corners of the Big Top. And...and.. and.. And it was very nice to see Craig and his mother Kristine. We have missed his presence among us physically. We ask God to return him to us quickly.

Slovakian Dinner and Pool Party

Wonderful food, wonderful people. We thank the Slovakian students for sharing their traditionally cooked meal with us at New Covenant. It was absolutely delicious. As always, the food becomes an excuse to smile, tell stories, and laugh. Thank you for this wonderful evening and the memories we now possess.

5th Sunday Fellowship and a Farewell

Sunday July 30, 2006 - Today we were in fellowship after the morning service and shared a meal as well as a fond farewell. The Deputys are moving to Greenwood. They are not leaving the country, or even the state. But they will be attending another church closer to their new home. We wish them well and will keep them in our prayers.

International Student Fair

On Wednesday, June 14th, 2006, we were given a table at the International student fair held at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. We had no idea how many students would drop by, especially on a rainy day, since it was the first time such a fair had been held. It is also difficult to get the word out because there is no central point of contact with those in the area. We were pleased with being able to interact with about 70 students throughout the day.

Slovakian Trip 2006

This photo journey is a product of God's good humor. Dave Musselman had what we might presume to be a chance encounter with a young lady from Slovakia hired to be the caretaker of the community pool one early morning last summer. Dave,somewhat flustered, offers what assistance he might possess in regard to pools, pumps, and valves. Eventually, he throws up his hands, and calls on someone with more expertise. But at that moment, with God's smile, Dave's (and Bernice's) ministry was born. Since that day, Dave and Bernice have been actively engaged with a number students from Slovakia that travel to Rehoboth for summer jobs. We are encouraged by Dave's and Bernice's call of the heart and this photo journey is but an episode. A small snippet of a much larger adventure. On this occasion, Dave and Bernice traveled to Slovakia to visit their new friends. Only in Christ, are we offered such an adventure in His spirit. We hope you enjoy the photographs.

International Student House

Dave Musselman has an interesting ministry lending a helping hand and a generous welcome to a group of international students working the area businesses this summer. Along the way, a house was rented and a cleanup crew was organized to ease the transition from their home to our home. The house truly needed the careful eye and the diligent hand of experienced house keepers. And as the Lord would have it, a crew was formed to meet the challenge. A good time was had by all. It is such a blessing to see the humor and the good natured response to an otherwise tedious job. Come on over, my house is next....

12 men and women from New Covenant traveled to Gulfport Mississippi February, 2006. This photo album documents a few of the sights Gulfport offered six months after the Katrina. You will notice there is much work yet to be done. This mission trip was a blessing for all involved. We became closer as a church family. We witnessed God's hand clearly at work. We prayed together. We worked together. We ate together... we witnessed the body of Christ in action. And there was joy.

Rock Concert March 1, 2006

A "free" concert was held here at New Covenant March 1, 2006. Featuring the bands Clearview, Shudder and our very own trio of Eric, Ben, and Josh (Simple Redemption). It was a great opportunity to experience the intense energy of our young men and yet recognize the love they have for our Lord. It was exciting to see the sanctuary transformed into a rockin' music hall. I have to admit, the energy was infectious and I found myself with an odd bounce in my step. And we almost caught Pastor Larry doing a frenetic jump maneuver. Ahhhh... you could see the true rocker spirit I knew he always had.....

The Seventh Annual Women's Tea at New Covenant is a Christmas tradition for many. 114 women gathered on December 6th , including preteens, mothers, and grandmothers to fellowship, eat and celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

Ken and Pat Hudson recorded these images on their recent trip to Mississippi. We are encouraged and grateful for their service. Together with Mike Bubeck on Sunday morning, we were treated to a slideshow documenting the trip and the projects the Presbytery has undertaken. Gulfport Mississippi

Our team has returned from Mississippi and a first hand encounter with the devastation left by hurricane Katrina. I saw Mike Bubeck at Promise Keepers on his first week home. He looks well tanned and absolutely no thinner as he was complaining about being fed too well. He must have stumbled into that good southern cooking. It appears Mike had a camera with him and we now have the good fortune to share a few snippets of this adventure though his eyes. Take a look at the reality.
