Assistant Pastor Gareth
Rev. Gareth Tonnessen was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1970 as a youth pastor in Seattle, WA. He then served as a foreign missionary in Kenya, East Africa and as a pastor in southeastern PA before becoming a caseworker with DE County Services for the Aging in Media, PA. After becoming an electronic technician (through night classes) he worked in a computer store and then became a store manager for a few years before working in computers and accounting for the University of Delaware College of Marine Studies in Lewes, DE. During much of the interim period he served as assistant pastor on the side in Dover, DE and Long Neck, DE.
Upon his retirement from the University of Delaware he began working part-time as our assistant pastor in June, 2005. He is currently paid for three days/week. His main areas of responsibility are Christian education, missions and house churches. He also does pastoral visitation.
