With the arrival of fall we begin our house churches. The main focus of our small groups is to give each of us an opportunity to interact in a personal way with the faces that sit beside us each Sunday. Each Sunday morning, we worship together in Spirit, we sing praises unto the Lord, and yet, we rarely have an opportunity to share our personal stories. The relatively small gathering of members in a house church gives each of us a chance to listen, to learn, to share our joys, our sorrows, our victories, and our concerns. And let me testify to laughter. Lots of laughter.
Most evenings we start with a brief Bible study that addresses the general interests of the group. Predictably, this reading of scripture leads to conversation. And it is the conversation which seems to touch our very lives. Somehow. Just where we are.
Be mindful that each group has a different 'persona'. Some march briskly, others browse and meander a bit. We invite you to visit us. Visit every group in the list if you wish. You will find a welcoming group of folks in each house church. And you may just find one that fits your sense of humor, style of study, and taste for food.
Food? Didn't I mention food yet? Food is also a part of this fellowship. Normally, special treats prepared by the finest cooks in Sussex County.
( It always helps to compliment... I learned that in a small group... bigger portions... I'm sure Phil had something to do with it... )
This year, we are encouraging each small group to adopt a missionary. We will encourage someone in each group to accept the responsibility of communication with the missionary and to ensure the group is aware of their prayer needs. We hope to provide the comfort that comes in knowing someone is praying for you. We know God listens. We know He answers our prayers.
With that promise in mind, we pray for you to join us.
